Urban Rifle 101 is a two-day course offered to civilians wishing to learn the fundamentals of defensive urban rifle tactics and techniques.
Instructors will bring back the best of several courses ranging from military marksmanship to some of the nation’s top-tier carbine rifle courses to this class.
Safety ranks first and foremost, but from there, we’ll help coach you in making your rifle, gear and person a “happy family” that complement one another. Classroom segments cover legal issues of using deadly force (including with rifles), how to do malfunction prevention in a maintenance program, along with the fundamentals of sighting in your bang stick.
From there, we move into the basics of shooting and going “safe”, transitions, movement, threat assessment, and system manipulation. As the first day wears on, we will begin to introduce some stress to help improve weapons manipulation skill sets and ingrain those basic movements into your unconscious memory.
Continuing from there, we will introduce barricades and shooting positions to use those barricades (cover and concealment) to your advantage. Prone, sitting, kneeling, and a whole lot more. Any fool can stand up and present an ideal target to an enemy. The rifleman will minimize exposure of soft body parts while delivering accurate fire on a deadly threat.
We will teach the principles of riflecraft from the ground up. Students will learn proper maintenance, employment, ammunition selection, mechanics and manipulation. Shooting on the move, from cover and concealment and from many positions will also be covered.
It does not stop there, though. As darkness falls Saturday, we’ll shoot in low-light conditions. Students will learn first hand the value of quality optics and tritium iron sight inserts.
On Sunday, we will continue to reinforce lessons learned Saturday and add new skill sets.
