Bonnie Garrett started her instructor career teaching and coaching young people in competitive shooting skills not quite ten years ago.
During that time, her interest in teaching adults self-defense shooting grew after taking GSL Defense Training’s NRA Personal Protection in the Home and Intermediate Personal Protection:Training to Live and Win courses. Not long after, she sought and received her NRA Basic Pistol instructor certification and took some advanced handgun coursework from the Midwest Training Group under Andy Kemp and Bob Houzenga.
She joined GSL Defense Training about six years ago and is one of the finest instructors we’ve ever seen (and we’ve seen a lot) when it comes to helping nervous shooters overcome their fear of shooting handguns. We’ve had lots of students rave over how Bonnie took them from being scared or intimidated by guns to feeling confident and secure in their knowledge of how to safely handle and use their gun for personal defense.
She’s taken some time off with the birth of Evan, the youngest “member” of our family, but is looking to rejoin the training team with regularity. Frankly, we can’t wait to see her smiling face in that red shirt on a routine basis once again.
